The map is courtesy of Forestry Commission at Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District.

This neatly coloured small scale map of Inshriach Forest shows the forestry tree areas in a dark stiple, a green and also yellow wash. The latter colour denoting the areas where the burning hazard is high (young plantations) and would most likely be destroyed if a fire entered or started in these areas.

The red zones, mainly along public roads, recreation areas and the edges next to hillsides which were regularly burnt to control heather growth are those areas where the risks of a fire starting were considered fairly high.
Note the lines of symbols denoting fire breaks, planted larch fire belts and those showing static 1000 litre tanks of water placed in ‘dry’ zones of the forest. The blue lines represent streams which run even in dryer spells of weather.

Rendezvous location Grid reference points have been added in pencil as have some additions or corrections to the areas denoted as fire breaks. Note the fire control centre, fire equipment store and radio base at the forest office and also the fire look out point in the forest shown by a cross within a red coloured circle.
