Valmet Harvester demonstration in South Scotland
Photograph courtesy of David Foot, Surrey.
This is the first of a series of images of a Valmet 880S wheeled base with a Pika 52 harvesting attachment operating at an unknown location. Note that the agent supplying the machine was Chieftain Forge of Bathgate diversifying from their traditional manufacture and sales of forestry tools. Does anyone remember this harvester on trial?
Can anyone identify the tractor based forwarder between the harvester and the large 1000 gallon bowser? The registration number VBY790? does not appear to mark it as a Forestry Commission machine.
Can any of the people in the group be named - unfortunately most having their backs to camera?
The PDF shows other views of the Valmet /Pika in operation and at roadside.
