The meeting location is not recorded but it appears that warmer conditions have followed from a wet start in a Lodgepole pine and spruce forest.

Error on name of number 10! It is in fact my dad Hamish Park.

Yes, no 2 is me. 13 is my old boss, F J (Fred) Donald. If 10 is Hamish Park, then this would be Tummel Forest. 12 is Bill ( cannot recall his surname but he was in Work Study at one time). He was a Geordie. 4 is Alex ? - he was Forester at Tummel and lived in the house at Tummel bridge. The site conditions would lead me to believe this is East and not South Scotland. Yes Douglas, dad is definitely no. 10 and it would have been during his time as Chief Forester at Tummel. Think you are right about no. 4. Well spotted despite being back view! Full name Alex McDonald. He and Alistair Fraser worked along with dad.

Hello, Joan. Thanks for that. I couldn't remember Alex's surname and I can picture Alistair Fraser but could not for the life of me remember his name. Can you remember the clerkess's name? Hello Douglas...yes mum and I still standing thanks! While the office was still part of our house at the Queens View the first clerk was Ken Bird and then Joan Macbeth (wife of George Macbeth one of the forestry workers.) When the office moved down to the new office at Faskally it was Helen Forbes that took over as clerkess.
The first warden at the Visitor Centre next to us at the Queens View was a chap named Richard. He always wore a kilt and arrived by scooter. Later it was Peter and Maria Barr and then George Hendry. It was a great place to be...there was always so much going on there with action around the office and centre.
We have another forestry link Douglas...the Forestry Commission badminton club at Craiglockhart during our Edinburgh days! Happy memories. Comment left on 24 October 2020 at 12:58 by Joan Park
Thanks, Joan. Say hello to your mum. There is a photo of the Queens View visitor centre on this site and they are asking if someone could identify the folk in the shot. I think it might be Peter and Maria Barr. Maybe you could help them with a comment.

I doubt if I could play badminton nowadays though I'm still young at just short of 68 years.

Mrs Macbeth was the name I was searching for. I remember coming into the office one day soaked to the skin and Mrs MacBeth said, "Right get those clothes off before you catch your death!" I was reluctant, saying I had nothing else to wear, but her response was that she wouldn't see anything she hadn't seen at home so that was that. Love the story Douglas.......as I said previously there was always plenty of action there. Hadn’t realised there had been a forced striptease though!

I have just come across this photo. I worked for Bill McCavish in the office in Lincoln in about 1982/3, with his lovely dog Tarrant, before he was posted to Scotland and the office moved to Market Rasen where I worked for Hugh Stickland, John Brunton and Bob Gladman, leaving at the end of 1986. Happy times! I now live in Spain with my second husband but we hope to return to Lincoln soon. Can't believe it's 40 years since I started with the FC. Bronwen Crowe

I studied Forestry in Bangor, Wales, from 1965 to 1968. I was a friend of Bill McCavish but have lost touch with him. The Bill McCavish in the picture ( 3340 ) looks like him. He was a Geordie.
