Picture courtesy of Jim Pratt and photographer Graham Whistler FBIPP FRPS.
Series of photographs taken at Inchnacardoch Forest in 1980/81 when the staff were felling and extracting the magnificent trees planted in 1920 to 1925 - mainly Douglas Fir but also Norway and Sitka spruce at a yield class of 18 and above. Individual trees would be up to 140 feet high and weighed in at well over a ton each. Extremely hazardous work on the very steep rocky slopes above the Loch Ness side A82 main public road.
In the picture standing by the van are Hugh Greig, cable crane operator and to the right Forester Jim Lyon.
