Plough Cross Draining team - Aultmore
Photograph courtesy of David Foot, Surrey.
Image of two Track Marshall tracked tractors working in tandem pulling the large Clark Humpy draining plough as they cross drain the normal forestry ploughing to take away the excess water from what appears to be a fairly dry site.
The tractor registrations are UMD 768F and SMV 507F and first therefore first registered in 1967/68. Location is not known but can anyone remember these particular machines. See operator image in next Picture number.
Can anyone say if these wide tracked tractors were specifically made for the Forestry ploughing teams or manufactured for other purposes?
The wide tracks and plates gave them good soft ground bearing abilities but from memory were a bit prone to breakages or breakdowns and a bit light on power. Does anyone agree?
