Malcom Wield comments:

‘This looks like a visit to Skye by the Fort Augustus District staff team. I think we went to the Otter Haven to look at the recently completed refurbishment work we had done, which included path and fence work aimed at screening the approach of visitors from the car park where the photo is taken from, to the observation hide some distance away. We were not all involved with Skye before 1996 following District boundary changes and I would guess the year at 1999 or 2000.

The group photo was taken at the Leitir fura abandoned township at Kinloch on Skye. After doing archaeological surveys in 1997 and the revelation of a previously undiscovered cave dwelling, the District team built a new path to the site and I think this was a visit to see the area in 1999, or possibly a year later before the formal launch of the new Forest Walk in 2000. The broadleaves are just coming into leaf so I would say it was April.

I am pleased you sent 2 photos which does help with some faces obscured in photo 040.'
