Controlled burning of area of Gorse
The photograph is courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.
No indication of operation or location but looks as though the fire has been purposely lit to burn off gorse along a rough track. The landrover has fire fighting equipment in the back and a hose leading out towards the fire which leads to the view this is controlled burning to either create a fire proof trace or simply to burn off the invading gorsewhich appears as though it may have been sprayed with herbicide at an earlier date.
Note the registration of the Landrover as ALF82B or ALF182B indicating the photograph was taken around mid part of the 1960s.
