The photograph is courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.

The map shows the boundaries and names of the administrative Conservancies in Scotland with outlines of Forestry Commission land including open hill ground (green), Private woodlands (red) and possibly designated areas of conservation such as SSSIs (blue). The map also demarcates the boundaries of the local government regions formed in 1975 which lasted until around 1996.

The map is thought to date from around 1980.
