50th Anniversary of Forestry Commission
The photograph is courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.
A series of photographs taken of a well turned out display in a hall possibly near Glenmore Forest Park (Queen’s Forest) celebrating the first 50 years of the Forestry Commission.
The sections of the display highlight the ecology of the forest and the role of the Forestry Commission in providing information on and access for the public to the forests. The first panel is headed habitat but difficult to read in the image but appears to have images of forest glades, water and mountain top.
The Visitor panel lists all the forests in North Scotland which have forest walks, the Forest Parks of Scotland (Glenmore, Glentrool, Argyll, The Border and Queen Elizabeth) and some publications featuring wild life.
The last two panels on birds and animals focus on named species with some images of them in their habitat. There is one image of a wild cat but difficult to make out.
Below the panel are a series of birds stuffed birds and animals including possibly and eagle on its nest, fox, badger, ptarmigan, peregrine falcon and great northern diver.
Does anyone remember this event and its location?
