Ripping rock in Monaughty Forest

Ripping rock in Monaughty Forest

Date Added: 02 March 2016 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1970 Picture No: 3230

The photograph is courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.

Frank Slowey of Elgin’s machine is busy ripping shale type rock with a single ripper tooth mounted on crossbar in some part of Monaughty Forest.

Can anyone name the driver or the man standing matching the operation?

The PDF shows the ripper tine and sock in closer detail - note that the year is a guess.
