One of a number of photographs taken by George Dey, District officer, of newly built car parks and recreation facilities some of which no longer exist or have been substantially modified. These images chart the early days of opening the Forestry Commission forests in Northeast Scotland to the public.

Brownside Wood was part of Forest of Deer and located in the Mountblairy area west of Turriff close to Maryhill Wood.
