Bennachie Forest Clachie Burn car park
The photograph is courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.
One of a number of photographs taken by George Dey, District officer, of newly built car parks and recreation facilities some of which no longer exist or have been substantially modified. These images chart the early days of opening the Forestry Commission forests in Northeast Scotland to the public.
This area is now better known as the Bennachie Centre car park and houses a visitor centre and extensive parking area. The photograph shows the condition of the forest areas immediately below Mither Tap of particular interest is the remnant Scots pine from the initial plantings.
