The event was the planting of trees by formers members of the Ladies Timber Corps up in the Ardonald area. Unfortunately this is a photocopy print only of a photograph now missing – hence the poor quality of the image. The three men helping out were the longest serving staff in the District at that time and are from the left:

Jimmy Christie (Bin Forest)
Gordon Thom (Ganger) (Tillathrowie)
Sandy Rose (Rhynie)

Jimmy and Gordon at this time worked in the Timber Marking squad and Sandy was a feller in the Huntly harvesting team. Perhaps someone will say when Jimmy retired and how long he worked in the Forestry Commission? Gordon went on to complete his 50 years of service (included two years of national Service) in 1999 and Sandy also completed his fifty years in 2009.

An amazing length of service in the Forestry Commission by the three men.

Thanks Frank for adding the details. One hundered and fortythree years service between the three of them! Can anyone submit a group to compare with that? Comment left on 16 February 2016 at 16:55 by Norman Davidson
