Unknown person Glenurquhart Forest 1928
Original photographs are courtesy of Inverness, Ross and Skye Forest District and staff at their Fort Augustus office.
The images have been taken from parts of original fixed point photographs of an underplanting experiment in Glenurqhuart Forest initiated in 1927 possibly by Frank Oliver who was District Officer for the area from 1927-1936. The experiment photographs, featured in Picture Numbers 3134 – 3141, included people in each of the different years.
The images are very grainy as they have been enlarged many times from three small separate photographs which included this person. The actual names were added as rough notes to the photographs at some point after the album was completed and there may be some doubt as to their accuracy. The 1928 photographs above were annotated as ‘Willie MacIntosh Forester in Charge’ but this is a different person from those named as Willie MacIntosh in later photographs. Looking at the Glenurquhart Forest Working Plan it can be seen that W MacIntosh was not posted to this Forest until sometime in 1928 and may have missed the May photo session. Could this person be his predecessor D Macdonald Forester in Charge?
