Former Puma trap at West Kerron

Malcolm Wield from Dingwall comments ‘Puma trap was in West Kerrow Wood, near Tomich, Strathglass. This was the trap that caught the puma alive in 1980, long before my time there. According to locals, the animal was virtually tame and not used to living in the wild. It was named Felicity and taken to Kincraig Wildlife Park where it was looked after for several years until it died of old age. It was preserved and mounted in a display in Inverness Museum and you can see images on Google!
I don’t know if any FC staff were involved but the capture has always been attributed to the Noble brothers, Willie and Julian, of Kerrow farm. Their father was originally an FC tenant but I’m not sure when we sold the farm into their private ownership.’
