Malcolm Wield at one time District Manager based at Fort Augustus comments:
‘Sandy Walker was the Forest Management Forester for the Affric and Glen Urquhart beat. Shewglie is an ancient clan Grant estate. The old house and farm are in Glen Urquhart, behind where Sandy and Len are standing.

Sandy is in the process of planning to replace the joint march stock fence after contact from the Shewglie farmer. Len was FM District Forester at that time and he and Sandy are at the site of the old, redundant gate in the fence, on the track that led from the farm to the higher ground, which FC bought in the 1920’s and planted. This became the Glen Urquhart Main Block, now securely fenced once again and well into its second rotation, although some of the original p24 Sitka, Douglas, Western red cedar and Western hemlock remain in mixture as long term retentions.’
