Launch of Glen Affric Caledonian Forest Reserve

One of four photographs to commemorate the formal launch of The Glen Affric Caledonian Forest Reserve by Sir Hector Munro in May 1994, then minister with responsibilities for Forestry. This location is the Dog Falls visitor information point.
Several former senior forest staff who were involved with the management of Glen Affric Forest in earlier days have been invited along for the event. The people named are from the left:
1. Finlay MacRae – Former District Officer whose area included Glen Affric
2. Robert Innes – Former Conservator of North Scotland
3. Hamish Maxwell – Former Conservator of North Scotland
4. Sir Hector Munro – Forestry Minister
5. Graham Hamilton – at this date Regional Director Forest Enterprise North Scotland.
Malcolm Wield provided some comments:
‘In the middle back ground with arms folded stands Russell Cooper who was the Affric Wildlife Ranger at the time next to Sandy Walker who was the Affric Forester. At the back to the right of Graham Hamilton stands Alexander Bennet, National Trust for Scotland and Stuart Benn, Conservation Manager for RSPB Scotland’.
