Forest Areas east of Dufftown

Date Added: 24 September 2015 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1969 Picture No: 3046

Maps are courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District.

Somewhat of a mystery Forest location but areas likely to have been purchased or leased by the forestry Commission and then returned or sold in the 1970s or 80s. Most of the areas were planted in 1959 – 1962 apart from an area of Coulalt Wood which was done in 1947 (possibly prior to FC purchase?)

The main names are:
Hill of Alnaceo
Black Hill
Coulalt Wood
Hill of Smithstown

The map cover is annotated as Bin Forest stock map which may have been correct but equally likely to have been part of Rosarie Forest.
