Monaughty Forest — Hill of the Wangie
Maps are courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District.
This is a 1968 resurvey of part of Monaughty Forest in the Dallas area and covers the Hill of the Wangie and other surrounding locations. The compartments range from No 101 through to 148 in a somewhat haphazard fashion. The tree species majors on Scots pine but there are areas of Sitka and Norway spruce plus some Lodgepole pine and larch. The planting years are pretty diverse with the earliest being 1933 and then jumps up to the 1940s followed by the 1950s and 1960s in the more southern portions.
Any details about the forest or your work in the forest are very welcome.
