Glenlivet Forest — Map 2 Glenlivet area

Date Added: 23 September 2015 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1970 Picture No: 3022

Maps are courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District.

One of a set of four maps (only three to hand) of Glenlivet Forest (Forestry Commission) used up until around 1968 and covered the area north east of Tomnavoulin.

The mix of planting years point to acquisitions or leases coming in at various times. There are some small areas of 1950s plantings but part of the area has been or was being planted in the 1960s. A large part, (Compartments No 40-No 109) is undefined and could have been planted earlier but the details had not been copied through onto this map?

It would appear that Map No 1 was adjoining but west of this map and unfortunately was not located.

Any details about the forest or your work in these woods are very welcome.
