Maps are courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District.

This forest existed as a separate Forestry Commission unit for some time and the hand drawn map shows more than one acquisition. The area in located just north of Glen Livet is annotated as the Morinsh and Badeach Section alluding to other areas of Scootmore Forest.

Note the three Forest Worker Holdings and that the Compartment numbers run from 33-109 (P31-52) with some later plantings in Compartments 351 -358 (P66). Sitka and Norway spruce planted pure on the lower areas but increasingly in mixtures with Lodgepole pine further up the hill.

Can anyone provide more information on the first area of Scootmore Forest possibly planted before 1931?
