Clashindarroch Forest Acquisition - circa1930
Map is courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District.
This composite map has no supporting text or information but the outline resembles closely the acquisition boundary of the land purchased from the Gordon Estates by the Forestry Commission circa 1930 totalling 18068 acres and part of which subsequently formed Clashindarroch Forest.
It would appear that the area is subdivided into land that was either leased or rented as farms, or to neighbouring farms, and the various colours represent the individual leases or rentals. Over time some land was sold to the sitting tenants or others and the remaining areas were cleared by the Department of Agriculture to be used for Forestry.
