Balloch Forest part of Bin Forest 1932-1963

This hand drawn map of Balloch Forest is annotated as checked by the Conservancy East in Jan 1947. Unusually the map does not contain the whole of the forest areas as some parts have been clipped suggesting that the map was initially drawn with the first land acquisition only and the second acquisition was added later.
The progress of panting has been rapid and the Forest was largely completed by 1959 with some fill in areas and replanting in 1962/63. The species used has a high proportion of Japanese larch and Scots pine reflecting the low nutrient status of the some of the soils. In some compartments Birch has been used but no indication if in mixture or as individual groups.
Of interest also are the roughly marked out brown solid and dotted lines indicating approximate road positions and again as in the Bin Forest this could be those roads constructed as a 31 mile work scheme in 1949-1953 by ex service people often referred to as ‘Burma Roads’. Can anyone confirm if these roads were part of the scheme?
