Jimmy Smith at Aberlour Sawmill
Photograph courtesy of Robbie Bruce, Drummuir which shows Jimmy Smith on a David Brown tractor modified with metal beams to carry lengths of sawn products in the front and the rear from the mill to the stacking points in the yard.
The mill shed behind houses a double bench sawmill and must have been one of the last of its type in the area. The three long poles on the roof appear to be a cantilever system to hold the front of the roof structure up without having the inconvenience of supporting posts getting in the way of working with machines and taking long lengths of timber in or out. Note Robbie Bruce working in behind his brother Jimmy.
