Sunart Forest - Alastair Ferguson -Forestry Keeper
Photograph by Arthur Bickerstaffe who used to holiday in the Sunart Area during the 1960s.
Alasdair Fergusson (name spelling corrected - see comments) with shotgun and binoculars is speaking to driver of the Forestry Commission lorry that was used as transport for the workforce and materials. Alasdair (sorry do not know the correct version of his christian name)Fergusson was the son of Dr Fergusson who practiced in Ardnamurchan for quite a period. Alasdair was a keeper in Glencripesdale and other areas of Sunart for some time. He actually lived for a time on a small Forestry Worker's Holding that was set up in Glencripesdale. Latterly he lived in Lochaline area and covered the forests in that locality but with amalgamations of forests and promotion to Head Ranger, he was responsible for wild life management in Forestry Commission forests over all of Morvern and part of the Sunart peninsulars.
