Highland Bear Forwarder — Panmure Estate

note the open mesh wire on the back of the cab above the winch this was a hazard when extracting pulpwood in the warm days of summer when flies tormented the operator, eventually a fan unit from an old Austen mini van was installed, cool air blowing towards my face (problem solved).

This load of timber was heading for the weighbridge in the village of Monikie before offloading at the estate sawmill.

Note the trailer tyres worn through to the canvas, they were replaced a week later by the fourth new set in four years. hauling heavy loads of timber from clear fells on the main road to the sawmill caused this premature wear.
