Extracting Timber by winch — Panmure Estate
Photograph courtesy of Leslie Phillip, Perth.
A Fordson Major with Igland 4000 winch fitted and driven by Neil Ross is hauling out trees from among a windblown section of Sitka spruce stand on Panmure Estate (Carnoustie) in the early 1980's.
Leslie recalls this tractor came from Dennis Smith sawmills (Cooper Angus) with a Boughton winch and anchors. The Boughton winch was removed and a double drum Igland winch fitted instead. Dennis Smith also had some timber lorries and had the contract for hauling the pulpwood.
