Sawmill at Wood of Milleath
Photograph is courtesy of Patrick Scott, Huntly.
Nothing known about the people in the photograph or who owned the mill that operated at Milleath which is assumed to be the area so named just over three miles west of Huntly. The team appears to consist of two sawyers, one engineer (with oil can) and possibly two fellers (one with axe) working on a fine stand of Norway spruce.
At this time quite a number of mobile sawmills were in operation in the locality some of the owners being the Lockhart Brothers, Riddochs of Rothiemay and James Jones.
Can any of the men be named?
