This area below the Commando Memorial has been given as Leanachan Forest Map No 7 and must just have been acquired and surveyed prior to the planting in 1968. It appears that part of the area was already laid out in Compartments and details were later added by the local foresters who organised the planting – this author included.
The 1970 planting was in later years largely burnt and replanted. Sam Cameron a ganger with the Forestry Commission stayed in a little white house on north side of the main road nearby at Stronaba.
