Back in the late 40's, early 50's, Ardnarff was the Eastern extremity of South Strome Forest. The current A890 road part of which is The Strome By-Pass which runs from Strathcarron to Strome is from Ardnarff to Strome utilising virtually the same roadline as set out originally by my father all those years ago. By a strange quirk of fate I had a very active part in supervising and managing the construction of the Strome By-Pass some 20 years after the forestry road was built

This Steyr tower mounted on one of Styer's own six-wheel chassis was owned and operated by Riddochs of Kilmallie, then later by Boyd Brothers of Blaich, Fort William.
