Womens Timber Corps plant for National Tree Week
Four ladies from the war time Women's Timber Corp help Gordon Thom plant some trees to celebrate National Tree Week in Buchan Forest District in December 1992. Mrs Beatrice Sutherland (Huntly), the late Mrs Gladys Coutts (Glenkindie), Miss Jean Charles (Huntly) and Mrs Margaret Angus (Huntly) former members of the Women's Timber Corps helped plant 40 trees to mark 40 years of the Queens reign were all based in the Aberdeenshire and Morayshire areas in 1942 - 1946. Gordon Thom one of the longest serving forest craftsmen in the district celebrated 50 years service (including 2 years National Service) in the Forestry Commission when he retired in 1999.
