Brashing trees in Inverliever Forest
The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and some are now shown on this web site although the whole forestry collection is now in Aberdeen University library archives.
A lovely photograph of Margaret Stewart (daughter of Len Stewart, Dalavich) who was a forest worker in Inverliever before taking on clerical work. With married name of Gould, Margaret still lives in Dalavich. Margaret is here brashing Sitka spruce trees with a special brashing saw to remove the lower branches and allow easy access to the forest.
Special thanks to Duncan MacDougall of Inverinan for the identification of the lady.
