Unknown people and location lantern slide

Date Added: 14 January 2015 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1955 Picture No: 2764

The photograph is courtesy of the family of George Dey. George took many forestry photographs in his forestry career and some are now shown on this web site although the whole forestry collection is now in Aberdeen University library archives.

Two forestry gentlemen having a roadside food stop from their tin ‘piece’ boxes and vacuum flasks. It is possible that this is from the early 1950s in the Aberdeenshire area but no details to hand. The gentleman with the glasses appears to be studying a map and could possibly have an acre grid measuring square above it or a similar sized photo slide. A similar looking object is lying on the bag between the two men.

The rabbit fence looks very new as the part forming the apron running over the ground is still clear of vegetation. Not what appears to be a double row of poles in the distance behind the men.

Any information on location and any of the men would be very welcome
