Culbin Forest — Soil or sand profile pit
Photograph courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District with particular help from Lesley Hutcheson who collected a series of general photographs found in the Newton Office and filed them.
The photograph is numbered Forestry Commission B7262 and shows some type of pit dug into the ground below pine tree roots. There is no explanation or details of this operation and one can only guess that it must have been some investigation into rooting or sand build up on site since planting. See PDF for another view.
