Culbin Forest Scots pine planted 1888
Photograph courtesy of Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District.
Scots pine stand in Compartment number 15 which was planted in 1888 and at time of photograph 95 years old. It is assumed this is the modern compartment numbering system which is quite different from those initially set out when first planted by the Forestry Commission. It is likely these trees are part of the Binsness plantations purchased by the FC. See history of Culbin Forest in other parts of this web site.
The image in the attached PDF shows the trees with some people to give a better size comparison.
