Former Heathhall Workshop at Dumfries

David McQuillan recalls ‘This is the inside of Heathhall Workshops at Dumfries taken around 1984 after the workshop had been extended. The extension consisted mainly of a new high bay to accommodate the ever increasing fleet of large forwarders and harvesters. You will see that that the original door headroom was very limited and in fact we could not get any of the Bruunetts or Kockums machines inside. The new bay had high doors at each end and was equipped with a travelling overhead crane plus a rolling road brake tester for use with the large fleet of tippers.
The mechanics in the picture are Tom McMeeken applying the livery to the Metro van and Hector Adams working on the Bedford HA. The Worksop closed a few years ago and was sold to a local agricultural machinery dealer for in my opinion at a giveaway price!’
The Metro van in front being worked on is FC 65087 and the one behind is FC 65092 Reg No B453 JSX. The older Ford Escort with the hood up is FC 52683 and has the older style arched livery which must have ended around the period 1980-1983.
