This informal group of students appears to be most of the men in the 1936 student intake to Benmore Forester Training School that graduated in 1938. Robert Allison said there were 24 in total and it seems two are missing from this line up. Some students have been named from those in Don MacLeman’s photographs of the same year group shown on this site as Nos 553 and 554.

The students have been numbered and named where possible as follows:
1. ?

3. George Small

My father William MacDonald (No 8) left Forestry Commission in 1953 to go to Forestry in Kenya, Elburgon Forest. Comment left on 27 June 2017 at 17:43 by Robert MacDonald
William MacDonald is number 8 - not number 1. He was my grandad. Comment left on 28 June 2017 at 15:50 by Katherine Kelly
Thank you Katherine and Robert for your comments. I have taken the liberty to amend the details for the image, so that your Grandad/Father is not attributed to 2 individuals in the photograph. Comment left on 29 June 2017 at 14:37 by Bill Rayner
