Felling Silver fir on Ardverikie Estate

Initially thought this was one of the most optimistic directional felling cuts in history with the aim of felling the tree to the right of the picture. Only just saw the pulling cable in the very top right hand corner of the photograph which is obviously attached to some large machine probably a skidder.
A great image of a felling site at Ardverikie Estate showing Alex Mckenzie, Dingwall getting stuck into the large Silver fir with his long bladed Stihl chain saw. Just behind him is the large imported Delimber mounted on the JCB tracked base though I doubt that this tree is a big on the large side even for this mighty machine.
One of the striking features of the forest on Ardverikie Estate when viewed from the public road running on the other side of Loch Laggan was the row of very tall firs planted along the Estate road looking like a guard of honour to the rest of the forest.
Can anyone provide any information on the actual species of tree (Silver fir? Noble fir?) and their age?
