Loading timber at Ballogie Estate — Gale1953
This Aberdeen Journals Photograph is courtesy of Aberdeen Journals and Forestry Commission, Moray and Aberdeenshire Forest District who hold the image.
This photograph follows on from the previous image of unloading the sawmill parts, the lorry now moved slightly further down the road and is being hand loaded with timber cut into various lengths. This timber would have been the result of previous emergency clearance of the B993 public road of all the trees blown across and blocking it after the wind storm on 31st Jan 1953. Note the devastation further down the road.
Can any of the men be recognised? The man on the extreme left with jacket and cap appears to be a foreman and also appears in Picture No 788 at the construction phase of the mile on this site. Can he be named?
