John’s father worked for the Forestry Commission in Glenlivet Forest as a lorry driver but John (Junior) was working on farms when he was offered a job offered a job as a ploughing tractor driver by Geordie Milton around 1960. John worked for him for about three years ploughing in many parts of the Northeast and over Inverness way.

This was his first tractor and he was engaged in ploughing on the hills near Tomintoul which involved living in the local bothy through the week.

Note the piece bag hanging over the air intake and the various oil and grease containers. The one on the left looks like a grease bucket which shows the long handled hand pump on top and long flexible connection which fitted onto the grease nipples on the track rollers and front sprocket.
