Bogmaster County tractor at Glengarry Forest 1955
Photographs courtesy of Brian Patience with help from Don MacLeman, Newnham. Photographs were taken by John Patience (Uncle of Brian) who was a forester at Glengarry at the time. John, originally from Avoch, trained at Glentress Forester Training School and was posted as a newly qualified forester to Mull in 1951, onwards to Glengarry in 1955, Queens in 1957 and then as Head Forester to Broadford, Skye around 1960 where he worked until he retired in 1990.
The forest has taken delivery of a new County Bogmaster tracked tractor no doubt to help with ploughing and cross draining on the softer peat sites. This is the wide extended track machine made by Fordson at the time. The machine appears to have been used on the peat prior to the time of the photograph. Perhaps it was used to debog the TD 9?
