Photograph courtesy of William Fleming, Polmont who worked in Strathyre Forest as an apprentice Forest Craftsman and stayed in the Forestry Hostel.

William’s photograph shows the forest squad resting from doing a stint in the forest nursery. At this time many forests had their own nurseries where they lined out young seedlings to grow on for eventual planting in the forest.
