Forestry Hostel boys at Strathyre Forest - 1958

Photographs courtesy of William Fleming, Polmont, who worked in Strathyre Forest as an apprentice Forest Craftsman and stayed in the Forestry Hostel.

William’s photograph shows a group of lads, some from each of the two dormitories of the hostel, standing in front of the building. The are named from the left:

Barclay Anderson
Jimmy Wilson
Robin McCall on the ground with newspaper.

The newspaper headline says ‘Seven fantastic days’ but could be the back page. Can anyone say what the story was?

Many of the hostel lads from 1957 and 1958 have got in touch with each other again as a result of Willie’s photographs.
