Unknown ploughing tractor

Date Added: 20 August 2007 Contributor: Norman Davidson Year of Photo: 1980 Picture No: 248

Could be a Caterpillar D4 which is pulling a double furrow plough (D60/-/t). Very wide spacing which is unusual. Tractor registration is EHM922J. In front of the tractor is a Brimac Lorry with the sliding platform down ready for tractor to crawl on to for transportation away from site. To the far right are some vehicles which look like pick up trucks rather than than the usual vans.

This tractor is a Bowen 60 serial number 5288, Forestry Commission fleet number FC 60005. It was driven by a Mr J White in the South Scotland Conservancy.
The tractor was delivered new to the FC on 25 June 1971 but only worked a few years before it was damaged by fire and written off.
An identical tractor reg number EHM 923J, serial number 5286 fleet number FC 60004 was delivered at the same time. This tractor worked for many years being operated by a Mr Rodkis.
