A view over some of the ploughs in the Ae Plough Museum in 1975 from a photograph taken by Donald Thomson. This image features the universal plough carriage made at Parkgate in the1950s but initially conceived by R B Ross. Called Parkgate, Ross or Universal this carriage was the forerunner of almost all the subsequent trailing ploughs. Note that the arch frame is turned around from subsequent models and this one pulls the wheels for ward on lifting which would have required more effort.

Note the twin tine plough being painted in the background – one tine is blade only and the other has a mouldboard attached. The turf or spoil from the mouldboard would fall over the tine rip of the previous plough run.
