Parkgate Humpy draining plough ready for dispatch
Forestry Commission copyright image of Forest Research photographs courtesy of Glenn Brearley, Roslin. Nil Ref No
A series of photographs taken at Parkgate Engineering Works owned by the Murray family who manufactured almost all the forestry ploughs from the 1950s through to the 1980s. This photograph possibly taken by Donald Thomson in 1976 shows the fully operational Humpy draining plough with S90/-/t head ready for dispatch. This particular plough has not been fitted with the adjustable angle mechanism but has the extended landside board to give the whole plough greater stability in soft peat and reduce sideways crabbing.
Can anyone name the gentleman in the photographs? Murray Clark?

My father took a series of plough photos against this background of asbestos roofing sheets
I think the gentleman in the photo could have been John Blaine the FC chief engineer back in the 60s Comment left on 17 April 2017 at 08:01 by Douglas Clark
