A series of photographs taken at Parkgate Engineering Works owned by the Murray family who manufactured almost all the forestry ploughs from the 1950s through to the 1980s. This photograph possibly taken by Donald Thomson in 1976 shows the Humpy draining plough S90 head with extended beam mounting wings to which a second hydraulic ram was fitted and enabled the tractor driver to adjust the ‘digging angle’ of the draining head. In very soft conditions or when lifting the plough the digging angle was adjusted by the hydraulics so that the base of the plough was parallel with the surface or even pointing up wards with the plough base heel at the bottom. The PDF shows another view of the adjustable angle draining head.
