Deep Single tine plough at Parkgate - Offset draw

A series of photographs taken at Parkgate Engineering Works owned by the Murray family who manufactured almost all the forestry ploughs from the 1950s through to the 1980s. This photograph taken by Donald Thomson in 1976 shows a S60/T90/t plough all kitted up for shipping out. This one is a little unusual as it has an offset drawbar to the left and may have been used for complete ploughing hard, indurated ground which was in vogue for a period. The offset draw bar would have allowed the tractor to run with both tracks on the flat ground and clear of the previously ploughed furrow thus offering better traction and a more comfortable ride for the driver.
