Unknown Ploughing tractor - mortars and shells
This tractor is a bit like a D4 but perhaps some one can confirm the actual type and model. It is very unusual in that it appears the fuel tank is mounted on the front also the Double furrow plough (D60/-/t) seems to have a large metal shield constructed on it as if to protect the driver. Is it possible that this machine was ploughing on a former army firing range with some unspent munitions and the plating was there to deflect any explosions?

Certainly a Bowen converted International TD8,
The normally rear mounted fuel tank has been brought to the front of the tractor to allow a blast plate to be fitted at the rear of the machine.
The blast plates were used on Rannoch Moor to protect operators from munitions. It was common for mortar shells to land in the peat and fail to explode, this area was used by Norwegian solders for live combat drills before returning to Norway.
