Double furrow ploughing trials at Whitelee Forest

A view of D60 Mark 6 plough head ploughing with the addition of disc coulters cutting the sides of the drain. This has caused some of the peat ribbon to fall further away from the drain edge and thus unfortunately increase the tree spacing across the furrow. The side discs seem to have cut an unnecessarily straight sided furrow which would not aid tree root penetration down the sides of the drain.
The PDF shows firstly a Mark 4 and then secondly a Mark 2 plough head ploughing both with side discs and the results are much the same as above.
